Tom Sachs has teamed up with Nike

The artist Tom Sachs and Nike transform mars rover air bags and astronaut suits into space-inspired Sportswear.

 
Tom Sachs has made a series of limited-edition sneakers, bags, and jackets designed to function under the least forgiving of conditions, featuring materials and construction that would prove indispensable on a voyage to the stars.

The "Mars Yard" shoe features outsoles borrowed from the Nike special forces boot, vectran fabric from the Mars Excursion Rover airbags, and detailing from Apollo lunar overshoe:

My first meeting with the artist Rupert Shrive was when I had an internship in Paris in 2009. I worked in the same building as him. It was love at first sight when I saw his amazing paintings.
